What is baltic sea day?
The goal of Baltic Sea Day is to enjoy our unique sea and to take concrete actions for its benefit. The day’s purpose is to increase knowledge of the sea’s diverse nature, culture, and history.

WHAT IS THE IDEA?
Baltic Sea Day is an annual day of celebration in honour of the sea. The objective of the day is to encourage people to enjoy the unique sea, and to take concrete actions that benefit it. The purpose is also to provide information on the versatile nature, culture, and history of the sea.

HOW TO TAKE PART?
You can join in by celebrating or taking action to protect the sea – whether on your own, with friends, within your community, or by organizing an event to engage the wider public.

WHO CAN join in?
Baltic Sea Day is for everyone, around the sea and beyond. We simply ask participants to uphold the values of Baltic Sea Day.
The day can be celebrated at schools, libraries, companies, friend groups, cities, sport clubs – you name it.

WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE PART?
Baltic Sea Day reminds us of why the sea and its well-being matters. The day offers a platform to learn and speak about the sea, join forces with others, and celebrate the sea’s wonders. Many small waves can create a big momentum.

The first Baltic Sea Day was organised in 2019. From the start, dozens of actors took part.
BALTIC SEA DAY 2025
160 events were officially registered through Baltic Sea Day website. The day was celebrated in eight countries, with biggest events taking place in Finland, Estonia and Sweden.
