PLUNGE
big plunge at 6 pm
Join the collective plunge by dipping in the Baltic Sea or in your local waters at 6 PM. Just dip a toe, swim freestyle, or relax as the water carries you. The style is up to you! You are of course welcome to take a dip at any time of the day that suits you best.
Swimming is not only fun but also one of the healthiest ways to enjoy the summer. Taking a plunge refreshes you on a hot day, relaxes you amid the rush, and brings movement to your body.
Along with having fun, it is important to take care of safety while swimming. Do not go into the water alone. When taking a dip, it is always a good to have a buddy with you or someone keeping watch from shore.

SAFETY FIRST
The joy of swimming should always be accompanied by water safety. Keep these tips in mind when heading to waters.
If you get tired, you will reach a spot where your feet touch the bottom and can get back to the shore faster.
Find out the water depth and temperature, and where children’s areas and possible supervision are located.
Use colorful swim cap and safety buoy if you do open water swimming. To avoid unnecessary worries, leave a note on shore saying you are swimming.
Children should be supervised especially closely, at arm’s length. Talk with the child before swimming about safe behavior in and around water.
Some cyanobacteria produce toxins that can cause, among other things, nausea, skin irritation, diarrhea and dizziness. In particular, young children and people with compromised overall health should be cautious during blue-green algae blooms.
Even adults can be caught by dangerous conditions such as currents or have a seizure.
