Baltic Sea Day with Origin by Ocean – Morning Dip, Sauna & Science
Join Origin by Ocean in Otaniemi to celebrate the Baltic Sea day from 8:00–11:00 for a refreshing morning dip and a warming sauna.
While we enjoy the sea, we’ll also face a critical question: Is this the Baltic Sea we want to swim in?
Our team will introduce you to our cyanobacteria collection pilot — a project designed to explore how harmful summer blooms could be transformed into valuable bio-based resources instead of being left to fuel eutrophication. You’ll get a close-up look at the equipment, process, and purpose behind this work, and hear how nutrient runoff and ecosystem imbalances are shaping the future of our sea.
Our marine biologist Ari Ruuskanen, well known for his work with the Origin by Ocean Academy, will share his knowledge and insights on Baltic Sea health, solutions in motion, and the role each of us can play.
After the dip and sauna, enjoy algae-inspired breakfast snacks and coffee — a taste of how marine innovation can make its way into our daily lives.
