Wärtsilä Dive Against Debris Vaasa 2022

Can you imagine a world where the oceans were clean? Where no trash, bicycles, skateboards, plastic bottles or chairs, could be found under the water?

Now you can take a part in making this dream into reality, by joining us in this coastal cleaning event on Baltic Sea Day, Thursday 25 August, from 16:00 until 19:00 at Kalaranta, Vaasa. You can volunteer either on land or as a diver in the water – and of course, you’re also warmly welcome just to watch from the sidelines as the volunteer divers clean up the seafloor!

Wärtsilä’s volunteer divers in Vaasa organises this event in collaboration with the City of Vaasa. The event is originally launched by PADI AWARE – a global initiative that works with scuba divers across the globe to protect underwater environments.

While admiring the sea getting cleaner, you can come and hear more about diving as a hobby by chatting with the divers. In addition, we have also teamed up with Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association (Pidä Saaristo Siistinä ry) that aims to keep Finland’s coastlines and archipelago clean. Also, Vaasan Meripelastusyhdistys is there to give insights about sea rescue.

If you’d like to volunteer as one of the PADI AWARE divers, please register yourself here by 15 August. Note: For safety reasons, all divers should be experienced divers having a track record of approx. 50 dives. You must have your own gear – and remember to bring your diving certification with you.
